The month ahead
It’s June! That means Pride, summertime, and a Cannabis Cup. We know: That’s a lot of engagements to juggle. Allow us to pick and choose for you.
Edible cannabis has come a long way since grassy brownies, and the first annual Get Baked Sale on Saturday, June 13, is proof of that. The first edible-only event in recent memory that we can name, it’s a daylong celebration of top-end food products that begins with an infused pancake breakfast. Find out more and cop tickets via facebook.com/getbakedsale.
If dabs are more your thing — and of course they are — put down the rig long enough to pack your tent for the Secret Cup’s Humboldt campout. The concentrate lover’s delight is going coastal for two days of nug run where the salmon run in Trinidad on the Lost Coast June 12-14 . Nab tickets at www.thesecretcup.com.
Shake off the haze and head up to Sacramento on June 14-15 for California NORML’s Citizen Lobby Day. There are medical marijuana industry regulation bills in the Legislature, and not all of them are industry-friendly. That doesn’t bode well with legalization around the corner. Surprise your local lawmaker into voting the right way with a visit. Find out more at www.californiacitizenlobbyday.org.
A highlight of the summer is High Times’ annual trip to the Bay Area for the Medical Cannabis Cup. But as of press deadline, neither a venue nor a date had been solidified! Whoa. Visit www.medcancup.com to find out more as the date draws nearer.
Hopefully, it’s not the weekend of June 27-28. That’s Pride. Be sure to attend, and be sure to thank a gay man over 50 for legal marijuana. Without the AIDS crisis, there would be no dab bar. Show your appreciation by marching in the parade with our friends at The Green Cross. Check the collective’s Facebook page and join up.
