Strain Review: Blueberry Haze

Blueberry Haze is a hybrid strain of — you guessed it — Blueberry and Haze. It makes a great midday smoke as the effects are motivating, energizing, and not at all debilitating.

I tried Blue Dream ($45 eighth) before and really enjoyed it so when I saw Peninsula Greens, my go-to medical marijuana delivery service, offer a $50 eighth of Blueberry Haze I knew I had to try it. And I was far from disappointed. In fact, I was impressed.

Blueberry Haze was the exact midday strain that I had been looking for. After smoking one bowl, I felt energized yet relaxed, motivated, and focused. I also felt extremely uplifted, making this a great option for someone suffering from depression.

I took on tasks and projects that I had previously avoided because the thought of them alone was too stressful. The high from Blueberry Haze was one of the most clearheaded highs I’ve experienced, while also being incredibly cerebral. I began thinking about how all life originated from the ocean and asked those around me, “What if we weren’t land people? What if we were water people?” You can imagine their reactions.

The high lasted about an hour and a half with an additional 30-45 minutes of pleasant “comedown.” The come-down is slow and gradual and may result in some slight sleepiness and loss of motivation — nothing that can’t be fixed by another bowl.

Potency: THC 21.6% CBD <2% Smell: Typical berry smell (very similar to that of Blue Dream), average potency.

Taste: Smooth, sweet smoke with strong blueberry tones.

Appearance: Large, dense, frosty, pine-green buds with many bright orange trichomes.

Trim: Great, clean cannabis.

Medical application: Anxiety, depression, appetite.

Effect: Immediate strong head buzz. After about 10 minutes, a body buzz begins and the effect becomes incredibly cerebral. However, be careful as smoking too much can result in a trip to dreamland.

Final Verdict: 8.6/10. Great high, gentle comedown, top-shelf quality at a less-than-top-shelf price.
