Cup Season: HIGH TIMES Cup Confirmed For Cow Palace, June 20-21

You didn’t think that 2015 would come and ago without a HIGH TIMES Medical Cannabis Cup in the Bay Area, did you?

As of last week, that looked to be a remote probability, with no venue secured for the original, copyrighted cannabis competition. But with less than a month before the typical summer solstice weekend happening, it’s all arranged, and just in time: HIGH TIMES is coming to the Cow Palace.

This year’s Nor-Cal Medical Cannabis Cup will be at the state-owned venue on Geneva Avenue in San Mateo County, the same place that’s played host to several Hempcon Cups as well as the original International Cannabis and Hemp Expos, way back in 2010. Cannabis and the Cow Palace — which has plenty of outdoor areas for cannabis consumption — just seem to mix well.

This is a shift for HIGH TIMES, who held the cup last year in Santa Rosa at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. That location seemed to play well with the industry, many of whom had shorter drives from Mendocino and Humboldt counties.

But no matter. The show will go on in close proximity to the city and the Bay Area’s population centers. As always, anyone 18 and over can attend, but a medical marijuana recommendation is necessary to consume cannabis products on-site. We imagine that, as always, there will be doctors handy to write recommendations — but if you’re not legal at this point, what exactly is holding you back?

Musical guests and the entire VIP experience ought to be announced soon. But in the meantime, tickets go on sale today. First orders will be accepted this afternoon… at about 20 minutes past 4 p.m., obviously.
