App in Smoke: High There! is Tinder for Stoners

Finding the right person to date is already pretty complicated, but it’s that much harder for cannabis aficionados to find a special somebody who accepts the stoner lifestyle.

That’s why Todd Mitchem created High There, a Tinder-style app that searches for connections with other marijuana users.

“I hated dating on other sites and apps because as soon as the idea of my cannabis consumption came up — date over,” said Mitchem in an interview with Co.Exist. “I actually walked out of a date (after paying of course) and said to myself, that’s it. Weeding out the Ms. Wrong from Ms. Right was complex. Selfishly, I hope this helps others like me.”

The app not only lets you locate and date other pot users, it can also search for your ideal type of stoner mate. Whether you’re a health nut who strictly vapes, a college student who’s a hardcore wax dabber, or an old-school Thai stick joint-roller, High There can find a like-minded soul based on your pot preferences.

The app can also find matches based on energy level when high, making sure you don’t get paired up with someone who wants to go on a stoney hike when you’d rather get stuck on the sofa watching Netflix.

High There also serves as a social network for pot enthusiasts who just want to connect. It’s perfect for finding dispensary recommendations, sharing edible recipes, or simply making a new friend.

“We wanted to build a cool piece of technology that solved the problem of where do million and millions of cannabis consumers go to meet people, connect with people and build relationships,” Mitchem told Mashable. “A lot of people say we’re the Tinder of weed, but that’s only one facet of the whole thing. It’s so much bigger.”

For now, High There can only be accessed in the 23 states that allow medical marijuana, out of respect to law enforcement. The free app is available now on Android, and should be available in Apple’s App Store within a few days.
