Lucky 420 Strikes Gold

For pre-rolls that look exactly like regular tobacco cigarettes, Lucky 420 knows what time it is.

Ever since high school, we’ve all dreamed of the day we’d go to the corner store and buy a pack of joints, just like buying a pack of cigarettes. That dream is now (sort of) realized, with Lucky 420 pre-rolls that look and feel exactly like cigarettes but pack that extra marijuana punch.

But these joints aren’t available at corner stores. You can only get them from licensed dispensaries and delivery services. (After all, these “cigarettes” are zero-percent tobacco and 100-percent cannabis.)

As the website succinctly says, “They will get you high.”

But Lucky 420 strikes it out of the park on both form and function. Notably, the packaging and the pre-rolls themselves are dead ringers for normal tobacco cigarettes, excellent for fooling any passing police officers, bosses, or persons of authority.

Lucky 420s are “passable” in other ways, too. Their strong resemblance to clove or artisanal cigarettes makes them a hit at parties and gatherings, as people will feel safer with what certainly appears to be an innocent, legal smoke. And Lucky 420s will dazzle your circle with an immaculately constructed jay instead of a wrinkly-ass hand-rolled joint.

These pre-rolls are technically “unfiltered.” It is well-known medically that cigarette filters aren’t particularly healthy, contributing mightily to lung disease. Instead, each Lucky 420 is equipped with a “filterless crutch” — not unlike that rolled-up bit of paper that master spliff-rollers use as a faux filter — to ensure smooth hitting and a lack of coughing.

These tobacco-free Lucky 420s are less toxic cigarettes in other ways. If you set one down, it goes out for you to pick right up when you’re ready to smoke again. They’re wrapped in unbleached flax paper, rather the additive-filled papers that make cigarettes automatically burn to their ends.

Each pack of Lucky 420s comes with seven pre-rolls, each of which carries seven-tenths of a gram of cannabis. These are not typical denominations by which we’re used to measuring our weed. But to put it in perspective, seven-tenths of a gram will give three casual cannabis users a tolerable high, or one everyday smoker a better-than-average high.

Lucky 420s come in three varieties — indica, sativa, and hybrid. They tend to retail around $35 or $40 for a pack, but that’s before various county or municipal taxes are applied.

This is as good an iteration on the “marijuana fake cigarette” concept as this publication has ever seen. Lucky 420s will be a guaranteed hit at gatherings, and your smoking buddies won’t forget how they all got lucky thanks to you.
