Cannabis Industry Donates $25,000 to Fire Victims

Bloom Farms is a San Francisco-based medical cannabis company, but the actual Bloom Farm was in Calaveras County – where Mike Ray, the company’s director, lost his home, farm (along with his entire season’s grow, including prized high CBD plants), and pretty much everything in the Butte fire in September.

Ray is rebuilding his home and property, but in the meantime, the cannabis industry is helping the rest of the county.

In March, Oakland dispensary Magnolia Wellness partnered with Bloom Farms to donate $25,000 to relief efforts in the county, the businesses announced.

“I grew up in Calaveras County and we lost our family home like so many others,” Ray said in a release. “Helping our neighbors feels like the right thing to do.”

The money – including $10,000 to the Mountain Ranch Fire Relief Fund – comes from sales of the company’s Highlighter vape pen.
